Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI)

FreightRecyclingVessels

The Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative (SRTI) wants to drive progress on responsible ship recycling. They offer an online platform to  transparently share information and policies.

The SRTI reflects a collective effort that brings together different players across the shipping industry beyond ship owners such as investors, cargo owners and broader stakeholders to improve ship recycling policy, practice and performance. The initiative is open to any organization directly or indirectly involved in the maritime business.

Shipowners voluntarily disclose information on their respective ship recycling policies, practices and progress, holding themselves accountable before key stakeholders and for the benefit of the wider public. Simultaneously, stakeholders such as cargo owners, financiers, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders such as consultancies and ship recycling yards can also become signatories, demanding transparency from shipowners on their approach to ship recycling and using SRTI data to make informed decisions and reward good practice through the market.
