Evides Industriewater has opened a facility on Yara Sluiskil’s premises, to produce demi water and purify the factory’s operational waste water. Yara produces artificial fertilizer, AdBlue and ammonia water. Because demi water is used in Yara’s production processes, the operational waste water contains nitrogen residue. The purification facility withdraws this nitrogen from the waste water, allowing for repurpose as secondary raw material for artificial fertilizers. Furthermore, this means less nitrogen is discharged into the Ghent-Terneuzen canal. The purified water itself is reused as well and accounts for a 5% reduction in water use.
The new facility is the size of a soccer pitch, and has been made to measure for Yara by Envides, who will also operate it.
