Port Oostende has invested in the development of a circular industry business cluster. The cluster brings together a network of companies in a dedicated zone of the port area, all active in the circular economy. Within the cluster knowledge is shared and opportunities for industrial symbiosis are explored. Furthermore, the new companies that are attracted by the presence of established circular industry actors, have a positive impact on local employment opportunities.
The port authority acts as a facilitator and organizes an annual ‘interactive Forum Circular Industry’ for the cluster industry partners, experts, academia and sector federations. This event aims at strengthening the circular ecosystem within the port.
