EDR Antwerp Shipyard

RepairVessels

Repair is a crucial pillar for the transition to a circular economy. It extends the life of products and minimizes waste. By embracing repair, we can save resources and preserve value. EDR Antwerp Shipyard puts this R-strategy into practice.

There is a long standing history of repair activity in the port of Antwerp. Antwerp Ship Repair was founded in 1928 and flourished in the second half of the 20th century. Unfortunately, business went downhill from the 90ties onwards, leading to multiple bankruptcies and acquisitions. The small company Engine Deck Repair NV was founded in the late 90s, and gradually grew to be the biggest ship repair company in Belgium by 2011. In 2020 the company was rebranded to EDR Antwerp Shipyard and focus shifted to a more international clientele.

Currently, EDR Antwerp Shipyard is a full service shipyard and drydock facility, as well as a spare part distribution center, technical supplier and warehouse. It offers its clients extensive drydock repairs, afloat repairs, and conversions on lay-by berths and during navigation. Most of the major actors in the shipping business rely upon EDR Antwerp Shipyard’s repair services. Large infrastructure and equipment investments are being made by the company. Their drydock is the biggest in Antwerp, providing 6 graving docks and over 2000 running meters of private berths.
