Port Authority of Valencia – Strategy towards Zero Emissions by 2030

Year 2021 (April)
Author(s) Valencia Port Authority

The Port Authority of Valencia’s (PAV) Strategy towards zero emissions by 2030 is driven by the port’s clear commitment to align itself with the European Green Deal on to that “transport must be infinitely cleaner”, highlighting the urgent need to reduce GHG emissions from the maritime transport sector. Ports have great potential to contribute immediately to the transition towards low-carbon port operations, more eco-efficient connections with the territory and carbon-neutral multimodal maritime transport and mobility. In addition, the port environment allows the testing of technologies in a relevant environment and in real operation in a situation of balance between supply and demand thanks to the participation of relevant end-users.

The main objectives of the Strategy include: 1) Promoting the decarbonization of the Spanish port system, including the incorporation of the circular economy in port construction projects and port operations; and 2) Fostering the digital transformation of the Spanish port system.
