Flanders Ship Repair (FSR) was founded in 1999, offering quick response services for all technical vessel issues, including tugs, dredgers, gas tankers, and military vessels. In 2004 FSR moved to a location in the Noordzeestraat in the Port of Bruges with 1800m² of workshops and offices.

In 2019, FSR acquired Antwerp Marine Technics. Together they remodeled Boluda Towing’s technical service in the Port of Antwerp into a general shipyard. This expanded technical team also won the maintenance contract for the the new Belgian-Dutch minesweeper fleet that will be operational from summer 2025 onwards.

Because of the built of a large new ship lock and accompanying thoroughfare NX, FSR have to vacate their current location. Early 2025 they will begin construction of a new complex on a consession site at the crossing of the Verschaeveweg and Verbindingsdok. This plot was assigned to them by Port of Antwerp Bruges, as they appreciate the importance of the presence of maritime service providers in the port. Previously these types of sites were reserverd for tanshipment companies. It will also allow them to install the necessary safety features for working on military vessels. As FSR’s floating dry dock unfortunately sank in 2024, they are also looking into building a new one in 2025. The company looks forward to this new chapter and aims at growing their services for the commercial and military shipping industries.
