Port of Antwerp – Business Plan 2018-2020: Leverage for a sustainable future

In this Business Plan 2018-2020 (extended until 2021), Port of Antwerp formulates five strategic priorities: sustainable growth, mobility, transition, safety & security, and operational excellence. The transition to a circular and low-carbon economy is a major challenge. With total CO2 emissions of approximately 18 million tons (excluding shipping), the Port of Antwerp accounted for approximately 10% of Belgian CO2 emissions. By gradually moving from a linear carbon-intensive economy to a circular and low-carbon economy, a significant reduction of greenhouse gases is envisaged by 2025. For this purpose, innovative concepts are introduced to the users of the port platform.

The Business Plan is subject to an annual evaluation. By achieving results on the five strategic priorities, the aim is to further expand external legitimacy and credibility and to fulfill the promise of the mission and vision for their stakeholders.
