The sixth edition of the Flemish Port Day will take place on Sunday 7 May 2023. On that day, the ports of Antwerp-Bruges, Ghent and Ostend will open their doors to the general public.

Lydia Peeters, Vlaams minister van mobiliteit & openbare werken: “Flanders’ ports are not only economic gateways to the global economy, they are also logistics and industrial zones. Together with businesses, they create jobs, investments and added value.

The Flemish Ports Day in 2023 has three objectives. Firstly, to show that ports have a positive and important impact on everyone’s daily life. People are sometimes unaware that most of what they own has passed through a port. If not as a finished product, then as a raw material. From the cereal we eat for breakfast to the clothes we wear. Secondly, by giving everyone a chance to look behind the scenes of a port. Finally, it is a great opportunity to learn about the different types of jobs in the port.

This year’s Port Day focuses on innovation. Ports are also testing grounds for pioneering and innovative products and techniques. In fact, innovation is an important pillar in our new Flemish Port Strategy. With the new Flemish Port Strategy, the Flemish government wants to complement and strengthen the individual strategies of the ports.”
